I have been teaching second grade for 10 years...second graders are THE BEST!! I am a product of this school district having gone to PDS, Sierra Vista Middle, and Buena High School. After high school I went to NAU and graduated in 1999 with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. While there I met my husband and we married in 2000. We now have 3 children; Connor- entering 3rd Grade, Kyleigh-2nd Grade and in my class this year :), and our youngest, Caden who will be 2 in November. I recieved my Master's degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy in 2008 and my National Board Certification in November of 2009. I am so excited to work with your child!
Tuesday is the big day! Open House always brings a myriad of students and parents eager to get a taste of what the new school year has in store. The classroom waits, untouched, for a new flock of second graders to bless it with their presence. Each kiddo leaves a little less worried about what is to come on the first day of school, as they have now found their seat, viewed the new room, and dropped off their supplies.
For my parents: Open House is from 4:30 to 5:30pm. Feel free to drop by at any point during that hour block of time. If you would like to bring your student's supplies you may place them all in the brown paper bag that has your child's name on it.
For my students: I can't wait to begin the new year with you! There are so many exciting things in store for you as super second graders! Check the Blog again on Sunday night or Monday morning for a "sneak peek" into our classroom.
Here it is... the very first post in this blog! I am looking forward to using this blog as a means of communicating what is happening in my second grade classroom. I hope that you will read it daily to be a "fly on the wall" and get a better sense of what happens in second grade. I will post pictures, video clips, important information, documents, and tidbits of information daily. Please feel free to leave a comment if you have a question or want to pass along a message to the class. All messages will be moderated by me before being posted on the blog. Enjoy and welcome to my 2010-2011 classroom!
